My Mission Statement

Boyland Knitworks was created by me, Caitlin Hunter, with the hope of spreading joy and comfort through the art of knitting. Knitting is a craft that brings us together, allows us to slow down and helps us focus on appreciating the little things that bring life meaning.

I love that this work gives me the opportunity to share my passion for design with a community that can then infuse my patterns with their own personality, love and care. What I am giving to you, the customer, is just a road map for your own unique journey with a knitted garment or accessory. Your yarn choices, the fibers and colors that speak to you, and the modifications you may choose to make all bring another layer of life to the basic template that Boyland Knitworks patterns provide.

Seeing the creations that such a diverse, multicultural group of people create from my art has been the greatest joy I could have possibly imagined. Even more rewarding are all the wonderful friendships I’ve gained through my work, and the bonds I’ve formed with people from all over the world and from all walks of life – people who I otherwise would have never had the opportunity to meet. I am so grateful for that.

In this work I am honored to have the privilege to help boost and support other small businesses, and I work with yarn makers and dyers whose values align with my own. Working with small, women and minority owned businesses that are dedicated to inclusion, diversity and giving back in their own communities and beyond has always been and will continue to be one of the core values of Boyland Knitworks.

As my business and influence within this community has grown, I have grown to understand my own role as a leader, and with that responsibility in mind I have signed up for educational workshops with anti-discrimination change-makers, specializing in anti-racism and inclusive dialogue. Going forward, I will continue to seek out educational opportunities to help me navigate the best path to contributing to a more inclusive and supportive space. Taking an active role in anti-discriminatory work through my business and in my personal life is something I believe in wholeheartedly and will always strive to improve.

Beyond that, my goal is to continue to create patterns for garments and accessories that are fun to knit and beautiful to wear. Thank you for joining me on this journey as I continue to grow as a designer, business owner and member of this community.

Warmest wishes and happiest knitting to you all,

Caitlin Hunter
