Ladd's Cardigan
Ladd's Cardigan
Ladd's Cardigan is the latest addition to the Portland series of designs, a loose collection made in collaboration with [Ritual Dyes][1] using their yarns and inspired by our favorite places in Portland. Other designs in the series include [Albina][2], [Winter Albina][3], [Hawthorne][4] and [Sellwood][5] (so far).
The Ladd’s Cardigan is knit from the top down, starting with the back knit flat to the armhole split. Then, the front shoulders are picked up and the front shaping is worked flat, separately, to the armhole split. You then join the fronts and back to work the remainder of the body. The sleeves are picked up and worked in the round. The button bands are then picked up and worked, followed by the neckline. Then, the lace collar is picked up and worked, and finally, i-cords are made and attached
This pattern was made using one strand of fingering weight wool held together with a strand of mohair throughout. You can substitute other yarn if you are able to match the gauge and create a fabric that you like. If using a single strand of thicker yarn, you will need only half of the recommended yardage (for Yarn A only).
