Bellwether is knit from the top down in the round featuring a bold graphic sheep motif and geometric colorwork. Bellwether is named for the sheep who leads the flock, inspired by the adorable Valais Blacknose sheep who attend Sacred Sheep each year (thanks to Kristen Ford of Woolfolk).

This design is unisex and size-inclusive, and includes instructions on how to modify it for your body and sleeve lengths as desired. Options are included for a puff sleeve with colorwork or a simple cap sleeve.

The sample shown is knit in Ritual Dyes Marona DK (MC) and oSHen Fibers Bubbles DK (CC). The boucle texture of the Bubbles DK adds an interesting textural dimension to the colorwork. You can use a similar yarn or a regular DK depending on your preference!

tapestry needle, row counter (optional), stitch markers (one for BOR, more if you wish to seperate your pattern repeats for the colorwork), waste yarn or stitch holders for putting the sleeves on hold.

Gauge:

20 sts and 28 rounds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette and

colorwork fabric on main needle blocking.

Note - You should always knit your swatch the same

way that the pattern is knit—in this case, in the round.

Block your swatch as you will your finished garment

and allow it to dry fully before measuring.
